It's really this simple, but we made it complex!
Get ready to start your 2024 hair routine....
Wash your hair more, don't wash your hair. Use products but don't use drugstore, be patient but also do something about it.... WHICH IS IT??? I'm here to tell you the simplest and easiest answer....
1. Heat protectant all over hair and oils on ends 2. Leave-in sprays to add hydration back into hair 3. No more cotton towels, switch to microfiber towels 4. For damaged hair, no more heat or chemical services 5. No more drugstore products, get professional products Continue reading for reasons why.....
Tip #1 - Heat protectant and oils
Just like your skin, your hair needs a protective barrier from the sun and its UVs. The sun and heat is damaging to the hair therefore you need to make sure you don't step out without it! I tell all my clients to spray the UV/Heat protectant all over the hair but the hair oils only on the ends. Remember that the bottom of the hair has been exposed longer than the top. It is porous and will become brittle quicker. Here is my favourite heat protectant Kenra Blowout Spray https://amzn.to/3KvIBfs
Tip #2 - After wash leave-ins
This is probably something you will always see stylist behind the chair use after the wash. Thats because the hair has lost a lot of hydration and natural oils. It needs to be put back in to help detangle and hydrate your hair again! If you can find a leave-in with a heat protectant spray together that will be the best option! No need for multiple products. As suggested above, the KENRA BLOWOUT SPRAY has both qualities!

Tip #3 - Ditch the cloth
Get. Yourself. A. Microfiber. Towel....... Are you still using those cotton towels??? Haven't you seen? we left those decades ago! Cotton has texture and small loops which can tug on the hair and cause damage. Microfiber towels are much softer and smoother texture, leaving the hair to dry faster without damage.
Tip #4 - Damaged hair?
I know it's not the answer you'll want to hear... but if you have severe damaged and broken hair, you must STOP. When your hair is showing signs of breakage, it's telling you that it's time to stop using heat, chemicals and styles. It needs time to repair itself! First thing to do is get a good chop, this will help heal and start a fresh end. Start using your hair masks, leave-ins and hair conditioners. It's time to bring back the hydration and give it time to close. Do not use heat anymore, if you must after a wash, use it on medium heat or air only. We don't want to walk around with wet hair as it is in its most fragile state and needs to be close to repair itself.
Tip #5 - Professional Products
If you've followed anything I've posted on social media. I talk a lot about hair health... this is the most important thing to know when it comes to hair. Without hair health, your colour and strength will not live up to the cost you pay for it.
We all want fast and beautiful results but what about colour longevity and long strong hair? What's the point of a beautiful colour for just a week if it's going to rinse out so quickly.
Finding and investing into professional hair products for your hair type will not only help repair your hair, but will keep your colour and strength lasting longer!
Don't wait until you've already damaged your hair.
